The Country Music Association of Australia has announced the Golden Guitar awards will go ahead in January in some form, depending on government restrictions at the time. Organisers say Tamworth Country Music festival, during which the awards take place, will likely to be one of the first major country music festivals able to go ahead after easing of Covid-19 restrictions.


Are drive-in concerts the way of the future? Last week Keith Urban performed a secret concert for 200 front-line healthcare workers in a drive-in movie theatre just outside of Nashville. The Australian music industry is already exploring it as a touring option, with Casey Donovan performing Australia’s first drive-in concert last Thursday.


2020 Star Maker Winner Sammy White has released her winner’s single this week with a twist. The track Lay It On Me would ordinarily have been released with a professional music video as part of the prize package, however due to restrictions, she opted make a DIY video using other artists including Catherine Britt, Brad Cox, Melanie Dyer and Black O’Connor lip synching along to her song.

And finally, the KIX Radiothon this weekend raised some much needed funds for Support Act. The 3 day radio-thon featured special radio shows from Amber Lawrence, The Wolfe Brothers, Christie Lamb, Casey Barnes and Melanie Dyer, as well as live concert audio and 24hr programming from Crossy and Justin Thomson.
